The Turing Trust team spent 2 amazing days at Turing Fest 2016. We are so grateful to Brian, Lauren and Marcus for looking after us so well and for inviting the Turing Trust to be the official Turing Fest charity partner. There was a real buzz about the festival and we were delighted to meet so many like-minded people who showed a real interest in what we are doing.
Dermot Turing gave a lunchtime talk “Alan Turing: Machinery and Thought”. His talk focused on Alan’s post war work in early computing and the perennial question about whether you can say that computers actually ‘think’.

Turing Festival also gave us the opportunity to showcase the work of the Turing Trust. Nicola Turing presented our work to conference delegates, generating support and stimulating interest in the Turing Trust “SolarBerry” – our off-grid computer laboratory, using solar energy to power energy-efficient Raspberry Pis in an up-cycled shipping container.
