Like many sub-Saharan African countries, Tanzania is facing a learning crisis. In a bid to improve school enrolment rates and promote gender equality, in 2022, Anglican Aid began developing a new secondary school for young women in Muleba, Tanzania.
Fast-forward two years, and Muleba Ladies College welcomed its first students. The school began running a range of classes designed to equip young women with the knowledge and tools they need to generate an income to support themselves and their families, ranging from sewing classes to business workshops.
With the school up and running, next on the agenda was establishing a computer training course, helping the girls develop vital digital skills to support their learning and future careers. With just 29% of the Tanzanian population estimated to use the internet, digital training courses like this are vital.

To help bring the classes to life, we donated 20 laptops to the school to support the creation of a computer lab. With 100 young women currently enrolled at Muleba Ladies College, the devices are set to make a big impact in the local community over the coming years.
Your donation has been instrumental in bridging the technological gap and empowering our students to excel in their studies and future careers. The computer lab has not only improved their learning experience but also equipped them with essential skills for the digital age. Your kindness and generosity have not only benefited our college but also the community at large.
The IT equipment we donated has not only helped to enhance lessons but has also increased student engagement across a range of subjects. The school is now able to integrate emerging technologies and systems into its curriculum, ensuring students gain the technical skills and know-how needed to thrive in today’s digital world.
Beyond this, staff can now complete administrative tasks more efficiently, leaving more time to focus on lesson planning, professional development and student support.
Having access to IT equipment has helped me to develop new products, services and processes. The computers drive innovation and growth, and enhance creativity.
– Miss Vashith Jason, Sewing Technology Teacher at Muleba Ladies College.
With technology continuing to take a more central role in everyday life, having access to digital devices is key. We’re thrilled to see the impact the computers have had on the students and wider community already, and hold hope for the future, with hundreds more students set to benefit from the lab over the coming years.
Projects like this rely on the generosity of our supporters. If you have any computers, laptops, tablets or other devices that you no longer use, please consider donating them. Your old technology has the potential to change lives.
