The Sylvia Lanka Foundation (SLF) is a charity empowering disadvantaged communities across Sri Lanka by improving access to food, shelter, healthcare and education.
In a bid to help bridge the digital divide and support the education of Sri Lankan students, the SLF recently partnered with DP Coding School, an organisation offering free courses to improve computer literacy through coding, and local government offices to launch their Sylvia IT Village – DP Coding Education project.
Now, with the appropriate learning resources and training centres secured, all they needed to bring the project to life was the right IT equipment – that’s where we come in.
Earlier this year, we donated a number of laptops to support the Sylvia IT Village project and help prepare students for future educational and career opportunities in STEM fields.
“The provision of IT equipment has greatly enhanced our programme, providing children with access to educational resources and hands-on experience with technology, thus preparing them for future opportunities.”
– Manjula Wickramaarachchi, Sylvia Lanka Foundation
The laptops we provided will help students to build their coding skills and knowledge, allowing them to access DP Coding School’s innovative learning platform and resources, complete coursework and gain hands-on experience with technology.
The project has already made a huge impact across Sri Lanka, currently supporting around 300 students. Over the coming months, the foundation plans to develop the programme, looking to open additional centres across the country and integrate more advanced technologies to better prepare students for a digitally interconnected world.
