Supporting Students in The Gambia with the Gunjur Project Association

For a number of years, we’ve been working in partnership with the Gunjur Project Association (GPA), a UK-registered charity working to improve access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities in The Gambia. With the country continuing to face challenges such as high poverty rates and low academic performance, many rely on charities like the Gunjur Project Association to support their development.

We recently shipped 60 laptops to support the work they are doing in The Gambia. These devices have been distributed between Gunjur Senior Secondary School, the UK Jarra Association, a charity launched to promote science & technology in schools in Jarra, and the Gunjur Project Community Hub, a purpose-built centre designed to support local communities, offering access to workshops, a library, computer rooms and more.

The laptops have already made a big impact at the Community Hub, with one of the devices being used to support a student nurse who is currently completing her studies with sponsorship from GPA. Another laptop has been donated to a student who is studying advanced IT skills, and to show their thanks, they have offered to share their wisdom and provide IT support at the weekend workshops hosted in the Community Hub.

Over at Gunjur Senior Secondary School, the Headmaster of Gunjur Senior Secondary School, Mr Barrow Bojang, has been working hard to ensure his students have the tools they need to succeed. Using proceeds from the school gardens, he has recently secured a TV and Wi-Fi for the school. Now, with the addition of 20 laptops, the students are able to begin their computer studies and access online resources to support their learning. One grade 11 student adds, “The computer studies lessons really interest me and I am motivated to learn more. I hope to have my own computer so I can practice more at home.”

Once again, thank you to all of our generous donors – projects like this would not be possible without your support. We’ve already achieved some amazing results in 2025, and we’re hopeful that we can make it our most impactful year to date.

If you have pre-loved IT equipment to donate, we’d love to hear from you. Head to our ‘Give Computers’ page to learn how we can help you transform your old tech into new opportunities for students across the globe.
