Volunteering with the Turing Trust: Ana’s Experience

We’ve been working in collaboration with Edinburgh College to support their English as a Second Language (ESL) students with work experience. So far this year we’ve been lucky enough to have 4 interns come through from the college who’ve been fantastic and supported many aspects of our work.

We spoke to Ana who’s studying Administration and was helping us in the office:

How did you find your time with the Turing Trust?

“I had a great experience with the Turing Trust during my work placement. As well as having the opportunity to improve my IT skills, I gained lots of valuable experience and grew as a professional while supporting the team. It has been very rewarding to me to to help with its cause, which is helping to transform the future of education in Africa and UK.”

What did you learn about our work?

“The Turing Trust take donations of IT equipment which they put in schools in sub-Saharan Africa once they have been wiped and restored. Members of staff make sure that all the equipment is in good condition and working properly, sorting out any problem they might have.”

How can people get involved with what we’re doing?

“It’s easy to make an impact because there are so many ways you can help with this cause: donating your IT equipment fundraising, or if you have some free time, you can meet the team and they will be pleased to give you more information.”

A big thank you to the Turing Trust for your work and for giving students like me the opportunity to learn while helping others, and a special thanks for bringing a smile wherever it is needed!
