Were very happy to share the news that Reice, one of our computer donation volunteers, has recently landed a full-time job as an electrical engineer with DC Electrical. We wish Reice the best of luck in his new role although, if he approaches it with the same dedication and passion for learning that he had as a volunteer, he wont need it!
Reice joined us at the Turing Trust last year as a university student who was looking to gain some hands-on experience to support his computer security and ethical hacking studies. He also shared our conviction that digital literacy and basic IT skills are a requirement for people who want to make the most of the online world and wanted to give something back by helping us to
accomplish this mission.
Since the start of his journey with us, Reice has been eager to highlight the value that volunteering can provide, not just for the people supported by our charity, but also for the volunteers themselves.
Ive only been volunteering for two months, and Im surprised at just how much I have learnt already!
Reice was first introduced to our work by a family member, and after a quick visit to our website, he knew he wanted to get involved with our work.
Reflecting on the impact that volunteering made on his own skillset, Reice added: Whilst volunteering with the Turing Trust, Ive had the opportunity to learn things I never would have otherwise. I did not know anything about data destruction when I started, but that is now what I specialise in!
Congratulations once again Reice, we know youll find success in your new role and hope your colleagues enjoy working with you as much as we did!
Were always on the lookout for more people who can help us make a difference. If youre interested in volunteering for our computer reuse charity, you can apply here.
