Enable Scotland is a Scottish charity that offers a range of free programmes, training and resources to support jobseekers with learning disabilities to develop their skills and find long-term employment.
As part of our DigiUK Project, we recently donated 32 laptops to Enable, which will be used by beneficiaries on their Enable Works programme and All in Glasgow project.
We’re honoured to have had the opportunity to support Enable and help more young people access the digital resources they to build a brighter future for themselves. The laptops have not only helped Enable’s clients to access new resources and skills, but will play in key role in their journey to employment, allowing them to explore more job opportunities, understand budgeting and payslips and create their own CVs and cover letters.
Ross Cowe, Employment Coordinator at Enable, adds:
“Some clients do not have readily available access to digital equipment and technology, so by sourcing digital equipment and laptops through an organisation such as Turing Trust, we can really help make a difference to people’s lives.
The laptops are already being used by our clients to access online digital learning tutorials and our own in-house employability skills system. A number of the clients are also using their laptops to assist them with college learning, including an introduction to college and life and work skills.
I am already seeing the difference in confidence, attitude and commitment from the young people I work with since getting them the laptops, and they are absolutely buzzing to be able to use them to their full potential to help them drive their learning and careers forward.
We will continue to work with these clients to build their digital confidence to help them towards a positive destination of work, further education, apprenticeships or even into a field specifically working in a digital environment.”

Stephanie, Employability Team Leader at Enable, shares how your donated laptops are supporting individuals on their All in Glasgow programme:
“One of the participants in our City of Glasgow College ‘Multiply’ cohort is a recent school leaver with dyslexia who is facing homelessness. Having this laptop has not only allowed the client to take part and learn new skills, but has helped him to develop friendships too.
Another laptop was given to Caitlin, a single parent who has recently applied to college. The device has given her the means to follow her career goals and support her family, helping her to gain qualifications and begin the first steps in her career. It has also allowed her to engage in our employability services online during the busy summer holidays.”
