James was at a bit of a crossroads. He had a background in audio engineering but knew his heart was really in the IT world. The tricky part was finding a direct path to get there and the hands-on experience that employers look for.
James decided to join us after hearing about The Turing Trust from a family friend. He dove right in, helping repair IT equipment destined for schools. He found it incredibly rewarding to know his daily tasks were supporting a student’s future elsewhere.
For James, the highlight of our programme was the sheer variety of machines he got to work on. He loved that the environment was so open and friendly—a place where you can learn and grow at your own pace, no matter your personality.
That hands-on experience turned out to be a real boost for his career. When James applied for a new role, his employer mentioned that his time in our programme was a significant reason he progressed through the interview process. We are so thrilled to share that James has now moved into employment as a 1st/2nd Line Support Engineer at Speech Graphics, an award-winning audio-driven facial animation company based in Edinburgh. We’ll miss his dedication in the workshop, but we can’t wait to see his career flourish!
