Ana was a student with a clear career goal: she wanted to break into the tech sector. While she was working hard on an online CompTIA A+ course, she found that looking at pictures on a screen just wasn’t the same as the real thing. She felt the challenge of “theoretical fatigue”—she had the knowledge in her head but lacked the hands-on hardware skills to feel truly confident.
When she joined us as a Community Programme participant, everything clicked into place. Ana found a “synergy” between her studies and the practical work in our workshop. Suddenly, the concepts she was reading about online were right in front of her as she helped prepare hundreds of donated computers for classrooms.
Beyond the technical skills, the programme offered Ana her first experience of a professional office environment. In our relaxed and friendly workshop, she found her confidence growing so much that she even began mentoring other newer participants. Being trusted to lead others was a huge milestone for her.
All that practical experience and newfound confidence paid off. We are so excited to share that Ana has moved into employment as a Security Operations Centre Analyst at Adarma, a local cybersecurity company! Being able to talk about her hands-on hardware work during her interviews made all the difference, and she is now exactly where she wanted to be in the IT industry.
