Alasdair Nielson and James Turing were awarded the Enterprise runner up prize at the University of Edinburgh 2016 Inspire Launch Grow awards. The award was for the SolarBerry project which will deliver a self-financing, community-owned offline and off-grid computer lab powered by solar energy with energy-efficient Raspberry Pi computers.
This project is already well under way with a prototype built and working in the Edinburgh sunshine.
The Turing Trust team in Edinburgh is working hard to collect together the kit needed for the pilot SolarBerry that will be built in Malawi. The plan is to ship this in early July, along with more than 500 computers.
