Help Change Lives is a charity on a mission to prevent and alleviate poverty in Kenya by providing support to underprivileged communities across the country.
In a bid to break the cycle of poverty and help more children gain the knowledge and skills they need to access real opportunities in life, the charity has recently refurbished a large run-down school in Nairobi’s Kangemi slum. They also sponsor the education of hundreds of children across Kenya at primary, secondary and tertiary levels.
Over the last two years, Help Change Lives has enabled 155 young adults from vulnerable backgrounds to secure places at university. Many of the students are studying for degrees that will not only benefit their future careers, but will make a meaningful difference in their local communities, with courses including Medicine & Surgery, Nursing, Criminology and Teaching.
As a charity committed to improving lives through education and technology, we were thrilled to have the opportunity to partner with Help Change Lives to deliver donated devices to some of the students currently completing their studies.
We’ve already received some fantastic feedback from the students who have benefited from our donated laptops, including James who is now studying for a Bachelor of Science (Nursing) at the University of Kabianga. He adds: “This laptop will make a huge difference in my studies. It has already begun to help me access important resources, complete assignments more efficiently and stay connected. Your support means more than words can fully express.“

After receiving an A- in his KCSE exams, Harry was offered a place to study Electrical Engineering at the Technical University, but unfortunately had to defer after the first semester to raise funds to enable him to continue his studies. Now, with support from Help Change Lives, he is back at university, continuing to build knowledge and skills to support his future career.
This laptop is much more than a piece of technology; it’s an essential tool that will significantly support my educational journey. It will enable me to conduct research, complete assignments, and participate in online classes with greater efficiency and ease. This gift will help me achieve my academic goals and pave the way for a successful future.
Angelica lives in the Dandora Slums in Nairobi and was sponsored throughout secondary school by Help Change Lives. Thanks to the continued support of the charity, she is now studying Criminology & Security Studies at Murang’a University, gaining the knowledge and skills she needs to secure a stable career and build a brighter future for herself and her family. She adds: “Your kindness in buying me a laptop has been a game-changer, enabling me to excel in my studies and explore new opportunities. Your investment in my future has not only empowered me academically but also instilled in me a sense of hope and determination.”

Trevor comes from a very poor family and for many years, the idea of going to university was nothing more than a dream. Thanks to Help Change Lives, his dream became a reality. Trevor and his family have been receiving ongoing support through their Kenya Families Programme, providing food, shelter, farming help, education and more to vulnerable families. Now, with access to a laptop and a promising education, Trevor is hopeful he can build a better life for himself and his family.
This laptop is more than just a piece of equipment; it is a vital tool that will significantly impact my ability to succeed. It will allow me to run the necessary software for my courses, complete research and assignments efficiently, and participate fully in my virtual classes.
24-year-old Larry has also received support through Help Change Lives’ Kenya Families Programme. Growing up as an orphan, for many years, he faced challenges accessing food, water and shelter. Recognising his struggles, Help Change Lives built accommodation and provided him with food, fertiliser and tomato seeds, helping him to raise funds for his university education through farming.
With no previous access to a computer, the laptop donated to Larry has proven to be invaluable, allowing him to build new skills and access additional academic resources whenever he needs them. Now, he is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts with IT at Tom Mboya University.
