From Mechanics to Medicine: How Two Laptops Are Changing Lives in Malawi

Watson’s Malawi Partnership is a charitable organisation that supports initiatives designed to alleviate poverty and improve education, health and wellbeing across the country. We recently partnered with them to deliver refurbished devices to support two individuals with their studies.

One of the beneficiaries, Paul, has been an integral part of the Watson’s Malawi partnership since 2022. He has worked tirelessly to support numerous projects in Central & Southern Malawi. Alongside this work, he is dedicated to furthering his education in automobile mechanics in the hope to fulfil his ambition to open a skills centre for disadvantaged street children.

Working with our partner, Computers for Enhanced Education, we delivered a refurbished computer to Paul, helping him to access online tutorials and relevant materials to support his learning.

The second beneficiary is Sarah, who has recently started a 5-year Biomechanical Engineering course at Blantyre University.

The donated computer has proven to be invaluable to Sarah, allowing her to complete coursework, develop new digital skills and access essential resources to support her learning.

Sarah and Paul’s stories show just how valuable your donations are. If you have any unwanted computers, laptops or other devices, please consider donating them – even one device can help to transform a life.

Together, we can turn old tech into new opportunities and help more individuals access the tools they need to learn and grow. Head to our ‘Give Computers’ page to learn more.
