We recently had the pleasure of supporting Hope in Haringey with their Haringey African Schools Partnership (HASP) project, which seeks to bring facilitate collaboration, knowledge sharing and skill development between young people in Haringey schools and their peers in Africa.
Rev John M. Wood MBE, Director at Hope in Haringey, started this project as a means to advance educational opportunities in African schools, and quickly recognised that to make this project a success, they would first have to address the technological gap – which is where we come in.
Here at The Turing Trust, we seek to use technology to empower disadvantaged communities and ensure every student has access to a quality education and real opportunities in life. So, when John reached out to us for support, we were more than happy to put some of our donated computers to good use.
The Turing Trust has been ever so responsive and helpful in providing computers for our partners in Africa under our HASP programme. Their support has been a major factor in the project’s current success, and we look forward to their continued support.

Thanks to your donations, we were able to supply Hope in Haringey with laptops and desktops to support the creation of an ICT Lab at Okrika National School, located in the town of Okrika in Rivers State, Nigeria.
Okrika National School serves approximately 200 students, and before seeking assistance, encountered significant hurdles in advancing its educational capabilities. The school’s lack of technological infrastructure, including a shortage of computers and unreliable electricity supply, hindered its ability to provide modern and effective learning experiences for its students.
To address these challenges, Okrika National School partnered with Hope in Haringey in September 2023. Through this partnership, and with support from The Turing Trust, the school has embarked on a journey towards technological advancement, helping to bridge the gap in educational resources and create more opportunities for its students. With the recent provision of laptops and desktops, coupled with the installation of a generator by Hope in Haringey to ensure consistent power supply, Okrika National School is poised to enhance its educational offerings and connect with partner schools globally.

In addition to the ICT Hub in Nigeria, our computer reuse charity has been able to provide devices to Hope in Haringeys partner schools in Ghana and EducAid Lumley School in Sierra Leone, allowing students to share knowledge and educational resources.
Hope in Haringey is delighted to have the support of The Turing Trust who donated wonderful tech for Haringey African Schools Partnership. We sent out a total of six computers, two to Ghana, Sierra Leone, and Nigeria. We then sent out two additional laptops to our Sierra Leone and Ghana contacts to enhance communication for the project. With The Turing Trust’s help, we have begun facilitating the ongoing mutual exchange of educational capital between the schools and look forward to its progress.
