Donated computer in Malawi classroom

Supporting Learning at Mkomachi Community Day Secondary School

Working with our partner in Malawi, Computers for Enhanced Education (CEE), we’ve donated a number of devices to support lessons at Mkomachi Community Day Secondary School (CDSS) in Lilongwe.

Jester Kasamba, a computer studies teacher at Mkomachi CDSS, states the donated devices have “made the students eager to learn”, with many pupils now wanting to study computers at MSCE. One of these students is Promise Kaunda, an aspiring computer programmer, who shares the importance of computers to him in the video below.

Symon, a 15-year-old form 3 student, has also benefitted from the computer lab, having previously had very limited access to technology. Fast forward to today, and he is studying ICT at MSCE level and planning to continue the subject at university.

Angelica, another form 3 student at Mkomachi Community Day Secondary School, is also studying computers at MSCE. Before having access to computers at school, her confidence using technology was just a 4/10. Today, Angelica’s confidence has skyrocketed to 10/10.

The addition of the computer lab has not only allowed her to gain new IT skills, but is also enhancing her learning across subjects, with the devices allowing her to “complete homework, study, and store documents and notes”. In the future, Angelica wants to become a surgeon, and she believes having access to computers will help her get there.
