Supporting Likangala Secondary School

As part of our ongoing commitment to enhance digital learning in Malawi, we’re working with our partner, Computers for Enhanced Education (CEE), to support schools across the country by installing donated computers.

We’ve recently installed 32 computers at Likangala Secondary School in Zomba district, located in the southern region of Malawi. With more than 250 students currently studying at the school, these donated laptops will prove to be a real asset over the coming years.

Who your donations are supporting

During the installation process, we had the opportunity to speak with a number of students at the Malawian secondary school to discover how and who your donated computers will benefit.

Harmony Chipata, a 14-year-old student, expressed her delight about the installation and is keen to use the computers to support her studies. One day, she hopes to become an entrepreneur and believes the newly installed laptops will play a crucial role in making her dreams a reality.

I would like to thank Computers for Enhanced Education and Turing Trust for the computers. I can now study and easily access information thanks to the many computers that our school has received. I would like to become a doctor, and I believe that the knowledge gained will be useful in my career.

Glory Kachule, student

Up until now, Likangala Secondary School has faced a shortage of computers, significantly limiting the teaching and learning of Computer Studies. With limited resources and financial constraints at play, the school reached out to request laptops from CEE and the Turing Trust.

Student Harmony emphasised how the provision of computers would significantly improve the school?s capacity to teach Computer Studies as well as broaden learning opportunities across various subjects for the many students enrolled. She further stressed, the computers will also assist the students in widening their knowledge using the offline RACHEL application which provides access to studying materials.

With the donated computers, I can now easily access educational resources through the offline library and the internet. The computers mean a lot to me as they give me an opportunity to gain more skillsand knowledge which will help me to become a Military IT officer.’

We look forward to sharing more updates over the coming months about the impact your donated computers have had so far. In the meantime, if you have any pre-loved laptops, tablets or other technology to donate, please head to our ‘Give Computers‘ page to find out more.
